Stories of Terror:
Tales From The Crypt: (Brian's stories)
It's unfortunate that I cannot see everything that is going on
throughout the night. As such, all of these stories are told from my
point of view at station #7. We had a camera that spent part of the
night looking at the area outside the witch's room and the other part
looking down over the buffet table. The videos are interesting to
watch but also don't do justice to the entire spectacle.
- Early on in the night there was a group of about 5 going through.
We hadn't yet worked out the timing of opening and closing the
door, so I start to re-open it a bit early. It bumped into one
mother bringing up the rear who then looked through the small
opening (entrance to the center triangle) and said "Peek-a-boo!".
As she came around the corner, though, she got looking at the
buffet table (like everyone else) and completely forgot about the
person she had just seen. When she got close enough, I stuck my
face out and reached through the wall to grab her shoulder. She
screamed loudly and bolted. As she high-tailed it around the next
corner, I growled after her, "Peek-a-boo!".
- Three little girls came by not too much later. They were brave
past the cage but stopped to look at the buffet table. As the
backed away from the head that stared at them, the bumped into the
wall behind them. I was looking directly down at them, dropped
each hand on the shoulder of a different girl, and roared at
them. All three let out screams and tore off down the
hall... where the mummy doors opened! Not having finished their
first scream, they renewed their efforts and ran down to the next
hallway... only to have their ankles grabbed. More screams and
they ran right through the cobwebs... Only to have Tracy jump out
at them! One last round of screaming and they burst through the
exit curtain. Scot and I could not stop laughing as we heard
these screams maneuver through the maze. They never stopped until
they made it outside again.
- As the night progressed, there were numerous encounters. There
was a little old lady that became amazing spry when scared. She
even managed to squeeze past her friends to get away from me.
Teenage girls are always the best victims. Several groups all
gave some really good screams. Often, they would all turn to look
at me in fear at which point Scot would reach across the table and
grab the from behind. There was no winning... They had to turn
their back on someone.
- After it was all done and the house was closed, we took turns
going through it so we could all see what everybody else was
doing. Tracy (the ghost) was the last to go through. She
actually shoo'd me back to my post so she could see it all. Well,
she came around the corner and was so intrigued by how good the
buffet table looked that she completely forgot about me. I stuck
my head out the wall and got as close to her as I could. Then I
dropped a hand on her shoulder and roared. Tracy jumped back and
screamed as well as anybody that night. It was a very satisfying
end to the evening.
- The News:
We had a visit by CHRO that night, too. The reporter went through
with a cameraman. They thought it was great! They interviewed
people, took lots of shots of the various stations, especially the
buffet table. The best part, though, was the very end. The reporter
was just not expecting the final Ghost. All through the garage, you
heard Tracy's screech followed by the reporter's "Whoa!" and a thud as
he backed hard into one of the walls. He exited rather wide-eyed and
shaken. He then said: "We're definitely coming back next year!"
Well, I think that pretty much wraps up my report for this year. Two
months of planning and construction, two hours of scaring the
daylights out of anyone we could, and three hours to rip the thing
apart. A lot of work, but even more fun. Until next year...
